As a family photographer working across Cavan, Longford, Meath, and Westmeath I often hear parents say, “We’ll book photos someday — when the house is tidier, when life slows down, (when I lose a few pounds), when the kids are a bit older.”
But here’s the truth: life never really slows down.
So make it a habit to get photos of your life as it is, choose your favourite season make a date and lock your session in. This beautiful family chooses to save their newborn and then the first birthday of each of their kids and then as they grow theyll choose another age milestone to make sure their family photos are a habit and to be honest Im jealous of the archive of family photos they already have after 4 sessions over almost years with me!

How to Prepare for an At-Home Session
If you’ve never done a family photoshoot at home, here’s what to expect:
No Perfect Homes Required – You don’t need a magazine-ready house. A few tidy spots with good light are all we need.
Dress Comfortably – Wear clothes you love and feel good in. Soft, neutral colours photograph beautifully, but most importantly, be yourselves.
Let Go of Expectations – The best photos often come from real moments — tickles, laughter, or a cuddle when someone gets shy.
